Introduction to Anhui University of Chinese Medicine

Located in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province, and established in 1959, the Anhui University of Chinese Medicine (originally known as Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine)is a construction unit of the national clinical research base, a national (Anhui-based)modern technology industry of Chinese medicine, an international cooperation base for the promotion of Chinese medicine, a national base for clinical drug research, a doctoral degree-conferring unit, and a unit of Mastersstudent recommendation and exemption. Anhui Academy of Chinese Medicine is affiliated with the University, and it consists of ten research institutes.

The University covers a total area of 1,171 Mu and it has three campuses located at Meishan Road, Shi River Road, andbytheShaoquan Lake respectively. The University now registers over 14,820 full-time students at all levels (Among them, there are 1,246 postgraduates). There is over 3,000 academic staff for teaching and research, over 160professors or equivalent academic title holders, over 300associate professors or equivalent academic title holders31doctoral supervisors,472Master’ssupervisors and 26tutorsfor the project of the academic and experiential heritage of nationally famous and senior Chinese medicine doctors. Additionally, there are 61domestically and internationally well-known experts and scholars working as visiting professors at the University.

The University offers diverse courses in its 28 bachelor’s programs (including 5 national key courses funded by the Ministry of Education of China),3 doctoral degree programs of Level-1discipline, four Master’sdegree programs of Level-1discipline, 25 Mastersdegree programs of Level-2discipline, four programs that award professional rather than academic Masters degrees.

The university library claims a collection of 2,000,000 books, including 33,000 thread-bound ancient books stored in the Ancient Book Department, and it is a“National Key Unit for AncientBook Protection”. The Centre of Chinese Medicine Specimen is the most special specimen pavilion with the richest collections of medical specimens among all the medical colleges and universities throughout the country, keeping 150,000 medicinal plant specimens. The Center Xin'an MedicalCulture is the promotion and education base for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Anhui Province.

The University has established solid partnerships for exchange and cooperation with 41 medical and educational institutions in more than 20 countries and districts, such as the United States, Australia, etc. Students from more than 20 countries and districts come to study at the University either for a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, or for a clinical internship. The University also performs staff- and/or student-exchange programs with universities in the United States, Australia, Sweden, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and the district of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, etc.
