2024 International Students' Opening Ceremony and New Student Orientation

On the afternoon of October 14, our university hosted the 2024 International Students' Opening Ceremony and New Student Orientation at the Shaoquan Lake Campus. The ceremony was attended by Luo Shaoming, a member of the university’s Party Committee, along with leaders from the Academic Affairs Office, Student Affairs Office, General Affairs Office, Security Office, Graduate School, and other departments. Key leaders from the School of Pharmacy, School of Acupuncture and Tuina, and First Clinical Medical College, along with teacher representatives, administrative leaders from the School of Humanities and International Education Exchange, and all incoming international students participated in the event. Additionally, officers from the Hefei Entry-Exit Administration Bureau and the Anti-Fraud Center of the Xinzhai Branch of the Hefei Public Security Bureau were invited to attend. The ceremony was hosted by Zhou Yadong, Dean of the School of Humanities and International Education Exchange.


Professor Han Rongchun from the School of Pharmacy delivered a speech on behalf of the faculty. In his address, Luo Shaoming welcomed the distinguished guests and the 55 international students from over 20 countries. He provided an overview of the university’s 65-year history and development. During the ceremony, Luo presented university badges to the international student representatives and expressed his heartfelt expectations. He encouraged the students to pursue knowledge diligently, strive for excellence in their academic endeavors, engage with openness and inclusivity in cultural exchanges, adopt a pragmatic approach in their quest for knowledge, and embrace innovation while preserving tradition in their future careers. He also mentioned the new students to continuously challenge themselves, keep pace with the times, improve their Chinese language skills, diligently study their professional courses, gain a comprehensive understanding of Chinese culture, and strive to become bridges that foster friendship between China and their home countries.


Representing the senior students, Xian Jinheng from Canada shared his experiences over the past year, expressing gratitude for the excellent learning environment and atmosphere the university has created for all international students. He conveyed his deep appreciation for the university and the dedicated teachers. Wang Congyu from Thailand, representing the new students, recounted her motivation for studying Traditional Chinese Medicine—having been cured by it during an illness, which sparked her passion for the field. She expressed great anticipation for her upcoming university life and her commitment to mastering Chinese culture and her academic studies, aiming to integrate swiftly into the Anhui University of Chinese Medicine family.


The ceremony also marked the establishment of the university’s first international student football team, with leaders from the School of Humanities and International Education Exchange presenting the team with flags. Furthermore, to enhance the management of international student education, the university appointed 18 international student volunteers, presenting them with official appointment letters during the ceremony.


Following the main event, officers from the Hefei Entry-Exit Administration Bureau provided education on entry and exit regulations, while officers from the Anti-Fraud Center of the Xinzhai Branch of the Hefei Public Security Bureau conducted sessions on telecom fraud prevention. Additionally, the School of Humanities and International Education Exchange introduced relevant university management policies to the new students.


Currently, the university accommodates 97 international students from over 20 countries across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. As enrollment continues to grow, the university is committed to further strengthening the management of international student education and enhancing the quality of education provided to its international community.
