On the afternoon of October 12, a delegation led by President Uraipan Janvanichyanont of Huachiew Chalermprakiet University, Thailand, visited our university. The two sides held a symposium and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Xu Fan, Deputy Party Secretary and President of our university, attended and addressed the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Zhou Yadong, Dean of the School of Humanities, International Education and Exchange (Foreign Affairs Office, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office). Representatives from Hefei Yunzhen Information Technology Co., Ltd., Chaoshan Vocational and Technical College, as well as relevant departments including the Academic Affairs Office, School of Chinese Medicine, School of Medical Information Engineering and Asset Management Co., Ltd. of our university participated in the symposium.

On behalf of the university, Xu Fan extended a warm welcome to President Uraipan Janvanichyanont and her delegation. He introduced the university’s history, disciplinary strengths and international exchange and cooperation achievements. He noted that China and Thailand are geographically close and share profound people-to-people bonds, and the timehonored friendship of “China-Thailand kinship” endures. As a treasure of Chinese civilization, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has long taken root in Thailand and benefited local people. It serves not only as a shining hallmark for bilateral cultural exchanges but also a fertile ground for deepening practical cooperation. The intelligent TCM diagnosis and treatment system developed by Hefei Yunzhen Information Technology Co., Ltd., an industry-university-research partner of our university, has gone global. The joint establishment of the TCM Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center with the Thai university facilitates the translation of university research outcomes for Southeast Asian scenarios and lays a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two institutions. Going forward, adhering to the principles of “complementary advantages, mutual benefit and win-win results, and common development”, the two sides will build long-term and stable cooperative ties covering talent cultivation, scientific research, faculty exchanges, clinical training and TCM cultural communication.
Uraipan Janvanichyanont expressed gratitude for the warm reception and briefed participants on the history and current development of Huachiew Chalermprakiet University. She pointed out that Huachiew Chalermprakiet University is Thailand’s sole nonprofit university fully funded by overseas Chinese donors. Founded in 1941, it comprises 14 faculties including the Faculty of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Faculty of Chinese Studies. She hoped that this signing ceremony would serve as a new starting point for in-depth collaboration in talent training, faculty training, clinical practice and research innovation, so as to advance the high-quality development of TCM in Thailand and bring benefits to people of both countries.

Participants conducted in-depth discussions on five key areas: furthering TCM faculty training and “Chinese + TCM” talent development, carrying out clinical training relying on affiliated hospitals, conducting joint research on distinctive specialties of Xin’an Medicine, accelerating cooperation on TCM artificial intelligence and digital-intelligent technologies, and jointly promoting the formulation of TCM standards and cultural dissemination.
Prior to the symposium, President Uraipan Janvanichyanont and her delegation toured the university’s Ancient Books Section, University History Museum and Xin’an Medicine Culture Museum.
